Essential Science A provides students with background skills to assist with SACE Stage 1 Biology, Earth and Environmental Science and Nutrition. Essential Science B provides students with background skills to assist with SACE Stage 1 Physics, Chemistry and Psychology.

Overview
Each semester will focus on different aspects of science in which the following will be covered:

  • Explaining scientific phenomena
  • Reading and understanding scientific text
  • Planning and investigation
  • Conducting research
  • Collating, representing and analysing data
  • Evaluating scientific investigations
  • Presenting findings

Pathways

Assessment will include a variety of tasks that cover students' understanding and the skills acquired. Individual and collaborative tasks will be assessed.
