Visiting Origin Energy
On 23 August, students in our Certificate III in Community Services course participated in the Beacon Foundation's High Impact Program - Perform, a one-day program where students were able to discuss issues related to employment with Bec from Beacon Foundation and Origin Energy staff. This was a great opportunity for students to develop the skills needed to work in the Community Services sector and to learn the importance of communication in the workplace. They also discussed the skills needed at job interviews and then participated in mock interviews.

During round table discussions, panel discussions and brainstorming, the students learned the importance of presenting a professional image in the workplace. Being in a business environment and hearing from staff from diverse backgrounds and in different jobs was a great way to learn about the current labour market and the opportunities that exist through future training pathways. This is particularly important as the students are currently planning their future careers and where they will study next year. This program was an excellent learning opportunity for the students and they really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Beacon Foundation and Origin Energy for providing this great opportunity for our students.
