Connecting Women in STEM 2020
Seventh Annual Women in STEM Event
Connecting Women in STEM 2020
On Thursday 5th of November, we held our seventh annual Women in STEM event, 'Connecting Women in STEM 2020'.

This large-scale online event was the first of its kind for the college, hosting approximately 100 school students and staff from across metropolitan and regional areas of South Australia and the Northern Territory. In attendance were industry guests from a range of STEM and education professions and representatives of our states tertiary institutions.

We heard from keynote speakers: Laura Tyler, Chief Technical Officer at BHP, Dr Shakuntla Gondalia, Microbiologist and lead researcher at CSIRO and Isabelle Greco, Early STEM Career and Research and Development Intern. They each talked about their journey as a woman in STEM and the value that women bring to the science, technology, engineering and mathematics workforce. We thank them for their time taken to share their incredible work and inspire our future leaders in STEM.

Congratulations to our student hosts, Minh and Sibel, for their contributions to the running of this event. We also thank all teachers and students for their participation on the day. Connecting Women in STEM is a wonderful showcase of excellence and innovation by our community here at Thebarton Senior College. We look forward to continuing to build connections to industry and further education for staff and students about the endless possibilities of STEM.
