Volunteering at the Semaphore Carousel
Thebarton Senior College Rotaract Club students have had the honour and privilege to volunteer at the Semaphore Carousel at Semaphore foreshore for the last two school holidays, working the morning shift from 11.00 am - 2.00 pm. This volunteering not only benefits confidence and communication skills of all volunteers, but it also helps the community.

Volunteering at Semaphore Carousel enables the Rotaract Club of Thebarton Senior College and other Rotary or Rotaract clubs to help other charities. When a volunteer donates their time, their club receives $15.00 per hour for their volunteering. These funds do not go to the student, they go to the club to support other charities. In the past, our club has donated funds to support Bikes for Refugees, Ronald McDonald House, Hutt Street Centre for the homeless, and other wonderful charities that need donations.

Volunteering not only helps the community in Australia and overseas, it helps the volunteer. Volunteering helps build confidence, discover careers, and provides fulfillment and lifelong relationships with other volunteers. Semaphore Carousel is a wonderful environment to volunteer at, with a great central location and seeing the excited kids waiting to go on the magical amusement ride.

Volunteering is not a chore. It's an amazing lifestyle activity, that changes the world one small step at a time.
