The Certificate I in Construction provide students with an overview of the building and construction industry covering a range of trade areas. Students learn the basics of working safely in a construction environment and develop basic skills in interpreting specifications, following workplace processes and using a wide range of tools, equipment and materials.
The course provides an introduction to bricklaying, roofing, carpentry and timber frame construction. Students work in a simulated environment and participate in work placement on building sites to gain an appreciation of the industry and potential career options.
This course is delivered by Thebarton Senior College staff on behalf of Australian Institute of Education and Training (RTO 121314) under a third-party agreement.

This accredited course has been developed to provide students with further skills and knowledge in the building and construction industry through completion of selected units of competency from the CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry.
Students work on carpentry related projects and perform tasks in relation to levelling operations, setting out, fixing plasterboards and installing linings, panelling and mouldings. This course is design for students who have completed the Doorways 2 Construction program at Thebarton Senior College or students who have completed a Certificate I or II in Construction with a different provider.
This course is delivered by ATEC (RTO 0022) at Thebarton Senior College.
