Essential Science provides students with general science skills, including inquiry, collaboration, analysis and evaluation. Numeracy skills are also developed, including graphing.

Essential Science A focuses on Earth and Environmental Sciences and Chemistry. Essential Science B continues these themes through Space Science and Physics.

Each semester will focus on different aspects of science in which the following will be covered:

  • Explaining scientific phenomena
  • Reading and understanding scientific texts
  • Planning and investigation
  • Conducting research
  • Collating, representing and analysing data
  • Evaluating scientific investigations
