Working primarily with copper and aluminium, students learn techniques such as saw piercing, hammering, sanding, filing, texturing, and polishing to create wearable pieces like pendants, earrings, bangles, or rings.

Course Content
Students complete three folios:
  • Two skills-based folios focused on learning and applying metalworking techniques using copper. Each includes research into jewellery practitioners, experimentation with tools and processes, and the creation of resolved pieces.
  • The Design Process and Solution folio is a self-directed project where students design and produce a single piece or small set of jewellery. The theme or concept is developed in response to their own artistic aesthetic, cultural heritage, and/or a sustainability issue.
Students investigate relevant artists, experiment with materials and techniques, and document their process from concept to final outcome.
