SACE Stage 2

20 credits

Video Production provides a flexible framework for self-directed and innovative learning, using a variety of materials and tools. Students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address a range of challenges that may arise from the design stage through to the construction stage. Whilst in Stage 1, students consider many types of film-making, in Stage 2 they focus and build skills in primarily one film type, such as live action, animation or stop motion.

Overview
Students develop skills across a broad area of video production. They investigate and build skills in camera handling, composition, light, audio capture, teamwork and editing. Students will use Premiere Pro to sequence their film and build various effects and transitions. Across the semester, students highlight these skills by building short films in their chosen genres via two Specialised Skills tasks and one larger Design Process and Solution. They also research different materials to use in their final product and to explore an issue that relates to video production. This is presented through the externally assessed Resources Study.
