Course Description

Introduction to Hardware, Application Software, Photography, Social Media and Cybersecurity

This introductory course provides students with basic knowledge and skills to perform foundational digital literacy tasks using a personal computer and a range of software applications and digital devices for use in a wide range of industries. 

Students develop basic computer configuration and maintenance skills and learn the essentials of operating systems, computer hardware and introductory cyber security. They also develop their understanding of safe and sustainable work practices and apply technical knowledge and skills to the use of a range of software applications. Students learn and apply skills in word processing, spreadsheets, digital imaging and social media tools to meet a variety of business needs.

This course prepares students to provide basic information technology support to different industries. Students may seek employment as data operators or business support assistants or undertake further studies at Certificate III level.

There are no pre-requisites for this course specified in the training package; however, students must satisfy the school admission requirements and achieve satisfactory results in a language, literacy and numeracy assessment.
