Course Description

This course prepares students to work in a range of clerical and administrative support roles. It covers key interpersonal and technical skills to work effectively in a business environment and to apply some discretion and judgement to work under limited guidance and supervision.

Students deepen their knowledge and skills in relation to routine business processes and practices to be able to provide some technical advice and support to a team. They produce a range of documents to support business operations and further develop their communication and customer service skills.

This course also uses a simulated environment where students respond to day-to-day challenges and apply their knowledge and skills to real workplace situations. They work under limited supervision to enable the development of their initiative, planning and organisation skills.

Students completing this course may seek employment as administration officers, business support officers, receptionists, customer service officers, personal assistants and a range of other roles within the business services industry. Students may also seek to undertake further studies in the business services industry.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course specified in the training package; however, students must satisfy the school admission requirements and achieve satisfactory results in a language, literacy and numeracy assessment.

Students are expected to have basic knowledge of common office software applications.
