TSC Drumming Group visits the Hamra Centre Library
On 21 and 28 November music teachers Paul Richardson and Paul Champion accompanied members of the Thebarton Senior College Drumming Group to the City of West Torrens Hamra Centre Library. The TSC Drumming Group performed for children from Aspect Treetop School and Cowandilla Primary School. The group members spoke to the children and shared some of their own culture. Some of the audience members also had an opportunity to participate in a few percussion activities.

The TSC Drumming Group members included:

Paul Richardson (music teacher), Fallone (Congo), Dieumerci (Congo), Clara (Spain), Mansoora and Fatima (Afghanistan), Zeynab (Iran) and Stella (South Sudan).

As well as the drumming performance, students shared their culture with the students:

Fallone - spoke about the French language in Congo
Dieumerci - sang in Swahili
Clara - spoke about castanets, Flamenco dancing and sang in Spanish
Mansoora and Fatima - spoke about drumming in Afghanistan
Zeynab - spoke about the Tomak (Zarb) drum and gave a demonstration
Stella - spoke about the use of drums in South Sudan and sang a song in the Bari language

Congratulations to all students on representing the college so well.
