Reconciliation Week Artwork
Connection to one another, community and country
Reconciliation Week Artwork
During Reconciliation Week, Thebarton Senior College students were engaged in respectful conversations and activities with Aboriginal educator and artist Nikki Carabetta which were designed to increase their awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultures. Our students talked about artwork as a culturally traditional way of telling stories and the dots as a technique used in the artwork.

Our students also had the unique opportunity to work with Nikki to create a dot painting that focuses on the theme of "impactful action towards reconciliation". The artwork reflects our connection to one another, community and Country and uses symbolism, imagery, and art styles from Australian Aboriginal culture. The students and artist worked together to design and paint the things, activities and places that bring us together. The activity was an excellent learning experience for our students.
