INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FRIENDSHIP
Thebarton Senior College Library promoted the International Day of Friendship with a noticeboard dedicated to displaying student contributions on the meaning of friendship.
Highlighting this special day helped new students engage with a topic close to their hearts, and relevant of their need to fit in to their new setting and circumstances. New Arrivals Program class 314 had only come together as a class at the start of term 3. They warmed to the task of reflecting on the meaning of friendship and the qualities of a good friend with engaged discussions.
On mentioning that their written contributions would be on display, one student beamed with pride and said words to the effect: "What an honour to have our writing on display".
Our whole school activities and organised in-school events facilitate new students feeling welcome and valued, particularly when contributions from students are invited and encouraged. Thank you for these opportunities!
